Șovăială is a photographer and filmmaker based in Zürich, Switzerland.

Horațiu studied Contemporary Photography and Video Art at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. His work is balanced between commercial and artistic projects and is rooted in his interest in people and their environments. He often draws inspiration from various archives of historical and contemporary imagery and using a suggestive visual grammar, intuitively creates images with a timeless quality. His images are sometimes imagined and carefully staged, and other times feel very real, factual, and experienced.
Horațiu communicates through colour and character building and takes a cinematic approach to his imagery. He is detail oriented and loves to create atmosphere with light, be it natural or artificial.
He runs Carnation Studio together with film director Raya al Souliman, a collaboration which has produced numerous projects and commissions crossing documentary filmmaking, fashion and commercial work.
